3 Ways to Bring Fall Into Your Home
As much as I love the warmth and sunshine of summer, there is something so special about fall. It’s a time of change with crisp air all around and leaves in stunning shades of gold and red. It also means time for cozying up on the couch with allllll the blankets and pumpkin candles burning around the clock. Sounds like the perfect recipe for Netflix + chill or a date night in!
I love pulling out all of my cozy blankets, pillows and more this time of year to make my space feel extra cozy. So below I’ve rounded up 3 quick + easy ways to bring fall into your home!
COZY TEXTURE | Nothing says cozy like over-sized pillows and a plaid throw blanket nestled on the couch. I have more throw blankets than I’d like to admit [you can never have enough IMO!] but when I was strolling the aisles of Target the other day, I saw this faux mohair plaid throw and could not say no. Y’all this blanket is SO soft and it reminds me of over-sized blanket scarves. It comes in 4 different colors: navy blue, mustard yellow, beige and a burgandy. I honestly had the toughest time deciding which one to get but decided to go with the beige one since I like to keep things pretty neutral in my apartment.
Next up is pillows - the perfect pairing with a cozy blanket! I love to layer my pillows so I started with this over-sized linen stripe pillow [similar options here & here]. This is the best accent pillow I have ever owned - no exaggeration; it’s so fluffy and soft and I love that it’s over-sized! I’ve taken many naps on this pillow and it does not disappoint one bit! I wanted to add some texture + depth so I layered with a faux fur pillow [similar option here]. I love the subtle color variations in it and it is super cozy to cuddle up with!
Because you can never have too many throw blankets, having a basket with extra throws tossed in is a must. I love the black stripes on this one that give the woven wicker basket a little something extra. This exact one is no longer available [sorry!!] but there are some other cute options here + here. Any way you can add wood/wicker to your space during fall helps to enhance the cozy vibes.
FESTIVE ACCENTS | I’m not one for cliche holiday decor but a few festive accents certainly help to bring life to a space. Isn’t this ceramic speckled pumpkin adorable?! I love that it is festive yet modern, and the white + black specks coordinates with my neutral color palette. I also love this cute little owl figurine - festive and representative of my alma mater - go Owls! You could even use those cute little white pumpkins aka ghost pumpkins - the ones you see at Trader Joe’s for about $1 each [such a deal!].
SEASONAL SCENTS | if you didn’t buy at least one pumpkin candle, was it even fall?! To me, the scents of fall are just so cozy - cinnamon, pumpkin, maple, apple - I can’t get enough! I like to get new candles each year so I typically look for smaller sized candles that I can use up in a season. It also lets me get a few different varieties and scents to rotate. This year my go-to has been the heritage pumpkin candle from Target [only $5!].
If you want to go all out with scents, you could also swap out your traditional hand soap for fall aromas. I love Mrs. Meyers hand soaps and typically go for the lavender scent. Not only are these Mrs. Meyers hand plant-derived but they come in great seasonal fall scents like apple cider and mum.
Now it’s time to cozy up on the couch with all the blankets + pillows! Cozy texture, festive accents and seasonal scents - the perfect combination to bring fall into your home. And don’t forget fresh flowers - a go-to addition to home decor always! What are your favorite ways to decorate for fall? Share below in the comments!
