The Life She Wanders

Checking In

After a much needed social media detox, I am back with a clear mind full of joy, hope and fresh ideas. It’s important to take a step back and focus on yourself...and that’s exactly what I did.

From a social media and blogging standpoint, I found myself getting caught in the comparison game and in a sense, too influenced as well. One of my favorite bloggers Liz Adams ( helloadamsfamily.com ) actually shared a post recently about feeling too influenced and it really hit home. With so much content being shared every day and every minute, it can be overwhelming and hard to digest it all. Buy this outfit, try this product, go on this trip - y’all know what I’m talking about!

As a quick example, I felt pressured to have the newest and best clothes to share and when it comes down to it, I don’t buy new clothes all that often and I’m perfectly okay with that. When I do, I like to think of myself as a savvy shopper looking for deals and pieces I know that will carry my through multiple seasons and beyond. I’m not one to buy all the things for a try-on haul so I can link them for commission only to return everything. I know that works for some but that isn’t my style and doesn’t feel authentic.

When I took a step back, I realized I was being sucked into the influence of social media and forgot my purpose in the space and the content I want to share. Don’t get me wrong, I love fashion and putting together outfits, but I want to also share more real life things that I know so many of you are also going through. Whether it’s budgeting basics, managing stress and anxiety, tips for working remotely, prioritizing when everything seems important, creating a productive morning routine, etc - I want to provide purposeful content. Content that I myself would want to read and things I gravitate towards.

From a personal life standpoint, I truly just needed to focus on me. Being present and in the moment has been key and I’ve loved being able to spend so much time with family. I’ve also made my personal health and wellness a priority again since it unfortunately fell off the bandwagon. Getting movement in first thing in the morning is key to my productivity throughout the day and my overall sense of joy. My eating was getting a tad all over the place and I was feeling weighed down. I’ve readjusted back to what makes me, and my body, feel good and I feel like myself again. But don’t worry, the craft beer and ice cream is here to stay! Balance is key my friends!

As far as the blog goes, I’ve been working on a bit of a redesign to spice things up for a fresh start. Would love your feedback so far! I have lots of great content lined up and here’s some things coming to the blog soon…

So there you have it, a quick little life update and check in. Stay tuned for fresh, new content coming your way very soon!
