February 2019 Recap

Just like that, another month of 2019 is in the books. And what a month it was! I feel like so many things happened, so many emotions were flowing, so many decisions were to be made and so on. February certainly flew by much faster than January did.

I turned 30 the beginning of the month and truly feel like 30 is going to be my year to shine! I sense new beginnings in multiple facets of life and although change is scary, I’m feeling more than ready for it. I’ve felt stuck for longer than I’d like to admit and nothing holds us back more than staying in the same place, in the same mundane routine. 30 is the year I will finally take control of my life; it is the year I put all of my faith and trust in God that He is guiding me along the ups, downs, twists and turns and that everything in my path - past and present - was and is purposeful. 30 is going to be the year of great things - because all great, beautiful things start from dust and ashes. Life…I’m comin’ for ya!

February brought precious moments with family and friends. I celebrated my birthday back home with my parents and although it wasn’t the trip to Napa Valley initially planned, I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I’m now spending some time with my brother which is always fun since we don’t get to see each other all that often. I was also able to see one of my sweetest friends, Jenna, this month and it was so great to catch up. We met on IG years ago, finally met IRL at The GOOD Fest 3 years ago and have continually kept in touch and met up over the years. She is such a sweet soul and I am forever grateful the crazy world of Instagram connected us!

So without further ado, time for a blog/IG recap from February. I’ve included links to all of the blog posts I published, an exclusive giveaway with JORD Watches, and details on my Poshmark closet. Keep on scrolling to check everything out!

LIFE / SELF

  • How To Live a More Joyous Life - One of my words for 2019 was joy and my mission this year is to truly and wholeheartedly live a more joyous life. We aren’t always guaranteed tomorrow so making the best of each day is key. In an effort to make this a more joy-filled year, I’ve come up with more than 10 ways to live a more joyous life. It’s about finding happy moments in all seasons of life because being down in the dumps [or a grouch] does nothing for your productivity or self-esteem! Plus, who doesn’t want to just live a more positive life?! If you find yourself struggling during difficult or stressful times in life, this list is for you!

  • Thirty, Flirty and Thriving: Saying Goodbye to My Twenties - I AM THIRTY. I repeat: I AM THIRTY. I never thought I would have a single ounce of excitement or happiness when I turned thirty but y’all, I’m ready to say goodbye to my twenties. I always thought I would have life figured out by the time I turned thirty but that most certainly is not the case. I’ve learned that we are always figuring life out, wandering through each day. There is no prize for figuring out life fast and having all your ducks in a row the best; it’s about enjoying the journey and learning from each and every up and down life brings.

  • The Single Girl’s Guide to Pampering Yourself for Valentine’s Day - In the world of social media, Valentine’s Day can make you feel overly loved and like a princess...or like shit that you’re single. But when it comes down to it, Valentine’s Day is just like any other day on the calendar and whether you are in a relationship, single or somewhere in between, know that Valentine’s Day [a day represented by an angel baby in a diaper shooting arrows] that you are enough and you are loved. So this year I’m taking a new approach to this cheesy holiday to make it one for the books. This year it is all about pampering yourself. So keep on reading to see my single girl’s guide to Valentine’s Day with more than 10 ways to pamper yourself!

  • 6 Ways To Get Comfortable Not Caring What Others Think - Last week I shared a post on how to live a more joyous life and one of the things I talked about was not caring what others think. Now, this certainly sounds much easier said than done [I’ve been there! Let’s be honest - I’m still a work in progress.] but getting to a point where you are comfortable truly will make all of the difference in your life. I think it is important to mention that this doesn’t mean we stop caring altogether about anything and everything, but it is about being selective in the things we do care about and focus our attention to.

  • Books I’ve Been Reading Lately - One of my goals for 2019 was to read more. A simple goal but something I definitely wanted to improve on from previous years. I’m proud to say I’ve started the year off strong and am doing much more than last year! I’ve been loving starting and/or ending my days cuddled up on the couch reading. It’s so relaxing and allows for a calm start and/or end to the day.

  • 6 Tips for Making Better Use of Your Time [with JORD Watches] - Time…something we all get the same amount of each day [yes, even Beyonce], but something we always wish we had more of. I don’t know about you but I continually check my watch throughout the day to see what time it is. I like to know where I stand schedule wise [hello doctor and specialist appointments never being on time] and to me a watch is a unique accessory and piece of art, like this wood one from JORD Watches.

FASHION + BEAUTY

  • Must-Have Affordable Swimsuits - It’s hard to think of swimsuits with the cold weather and snow still around but warm weather is coming in just a few short months! It is also prime vacation or spring break time and who doesn’t want a new swimsuit for that?! With that, I’ve rounded up tons of cute and affordable swimsuits, both two piece and one piece.

  • My Go-To Products from Sephora - I’m a Sephora girl through and through and have always loved all things beauty. I grew up in the competitive dance world so makeup was normal to me from a very young age…although performance makeup is much different than everyday looks! I don’t look at makeup as a means to cover things up, I look at it as tools to enhance and bring added life. I’ve also become a big proponent of clean beauty products over the past couple of years and love all of the options Sephora has.
